I miss the PASTRIES.
I miss the city that didn’t end, no matter where you looked in a 360 degree circle and how far out you tried to look.
I miss the details in the architecture.
I miss the music of the language I didn’t know. Every sign was interesting. I didn’t know it said “Free Chicken Here” or “Bathrooms for Customers Only” and I didn’t care.
Well, I did care, but it was interesting regardless.
I miss the arcade.
I miss the pictures I didn’t take but that I have in my mind: the platform conductor at the train station, the order of the boarding lines on the trains and the lanes on the stairs, and the quiet of just about everything, except for the arcade and the streets of Shibuya.
On the upside, I have just discovered that my company has an entire group dedicated to writing work-related haikus, and this makes me VERY happy.
